Personal — 2016

Amsterdam is loaded with bicycles. Black frames blend in with bridges, streetlights and street furniture. If you look closely you’ll see some miniture colourful copies hidden in the steel clutter. Sometimes all by themselves on a bridge, sometimes chained to a big bicycle, but always cheerful and colourful.

The way these bikes give colour to our city could be a symbol of impartiality of their owners. Thanks to their unique view we see the world differently. The older we get, the more we start to blend in, just like the bicycles on the street.

One thing is for sure: These kids learn very early how to park their bikes ‘the Amsterdam way’.
